School Security

The main entrance to the building will be from the bus loop. All visitors, parents and students entering the building during the day need to park their vehicle in the designated spaces ( see parking rules) and enter the building through the front doors. You will be required to sign in at the main office.

From 7:45 – 8:05 in the morning and at 2:50 the side door of the building will be opened for parents to drop students off and pick them up in the afternoon. This will reduce congestion in the front of the building.

AT NO OTHER TIME DURING THE DAY WILL THESE DOORS BE OPENED.

Effective 9/1/2023 all doors will be locked at 8:05AM. All visitors to the building will be required to enter through the main entrance. As part of our enhanced security measures, we now have a push button and camera located at the front entrance. To gain access, visitors will need to push the button and wait for someone to remotely unlock the door for them to enter. This procedure will not impact the ability of anyone, student or adult, to exit the building through any door, as required by New York State Law.

After the first week of school all parents are to drop their children off at the main or side door and pick them up there as well. Parents are not to escort children to classrooms after the 1st week of school.

School Tax Information

The Tax Collector will accept payment for school taxes beginning September 1, 2024 and ending October 31, 2024. Payment may be mailed to the Collector, Deborah Lawyer, at the Laurens Town Hall, 37 Brook Street, Laurens, NY 13796. Checks should be made payable to Deborah Lawyer, Tax Collector. The Tax Collector will accept cash payment if it is the exact amount. No change will be given.

THE COLLECTOR WILL ACCEPT TAXES BY MAIL OR YOU MAY DROP THEM OFF IN PERSON AT THE LAURENS TOWN HALL ON THE FOLLOWING WEEKDAYS, EXCEPT FOR HOLIDAYS:

Monday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Friday 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Taxes will be collected at no penalty from September 1, 2024, through September 30, 2024, and at 2% interest through October 31, 2024. All taxes remaining unpaid after October 31, 2024, will be returned to the Otsego County Treasurer.

Our goal is to provide much needed and important information to parents, community members and tax payers residing in our District on a monthly bases. Due to the generosity of individuals, businesses and organizations we have been able to do this.

The cost of sponsoring a newsletter is $200.00 This covers the cost of the mailing, and does not include copying, paper, or labor costs for the creation, typing, and editing of the newsletter.
