About the Principal

Mr. William (Bill) Dorritie

I am a 1991 graduate of Laurens Central School. I worked as a history teacher and a coach at Edmeston Central School for eight years. Upon my completion of my administrative certification I served as the assistant principal at Richfield Springs Central School from January 2005 to June 2006,  at which time I accepted the building principal position here at LCS.
I live with my wife and two sons in Laurens. I enjoy playing golf, fishing, cooking for my family and friends, and rooting for the Yankees and Syracuse basketball in my free time.
Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions of Students and Parents

Who should I talk to about a problem in my child's classroom?
You are welcome to call me at school any time, but you should contact your child's teacher first! If they are having problems with another student or aconcern with the teacher, they should be the first person you attempt to talk to. The best solutions to classroom problems usually come from working
together with the teacher.

How do I contact you?
I can be reached by phone at (607) 432-2050. If I am unavailable please leave a message with Mrs. Hall and I will return your call as soon as possible. You can also e-mail me through the link on this web page.

What do you do as the principal?
My primary goal as the building principal is to promote a safe learning environment where all of our students are given the opportunity to reach their maximum potential as learners and responsible citizens of the country and community. There are many different things I do in my job to try and achieve that goal, including student discipline, evaluation of teachers and support staff, acting as the Chief Information Officer for the District, and helping teachers get what they need to create quality lessons.

I want to work with kids and help the school, but how can I do that?
There are many opportunities for parents and community members to have a positive impact on our students. You can volunteer to present at Morning Program, work with the REACH after school program, join the Athletic Booster Club, or attend Board of Education meetings. Community involvement is always welcome!
