This is my seventh year of teaching, and second year at Laurens Central School District. I am very excited to continue and expand my role as STEM teacher at Laurens Central Schools. STEM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, is an important aspect of today's education. The main objective is to teach the concepts from each discipline together, in a hands-on and cooperative learning environment.
In my second year I hope to get more students involved and better prepare all students for a rapidly changing job market. I went to SUNY Oneonta for my undergraduate degree in Mathematics Education. While starting my teaching career, I attended graduate school at SUNY Oneonta and received a Masters in Educational Technology. After completing my masters I had an interest in teaching Physics, so I took Post-Graduate classes at Buffalo State in order to receive a certification in Physics Education, as well. It is this wide range of content knowledge that I put together to make STEM classes that entwine all the different disciplines.
My hope is to prepare our students for colleges and careers that are looking for motivated, critical thinkers in the STEM areas.
